Everyone else can read it on the web next Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The story mentions drawing and improving at it. I&#8217;ve wanted to draw for a long time, but I didn&#8217;t get around to trying until recently. You know the joke about drawing instructions? Step 1, Draw an oval. Step 2, Add a few lines. Step 3, Paint the Mona Lisa. That&#8217;s what it always seemed like.<\/p>\n<p>Last year I bought a couple drawing books and this year I started looking at them (mostly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/849364.Drawing_for_the_Absolute_and_Utter_Beginner\">Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner<\/a>). It explains things in a way my art-deficient brain can understand.<\/p>\n<p>Friday I drew this sunflower, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/15871957-drawing-nature-for-the-absolute-beginner\">Drawing Nature for the Absolute Beginner<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elizabethshack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/sunflower.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elizabethshack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/sunflower-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"sunflower\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elizabethshack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/sunflower-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/elizabethshack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/sunflower.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the first thing I drew with actual drawing pencils instead of a single mechanical pencil.
