I’m doing a 12-book challenge, and I am behind, having just read book #2 today. [1]<\/p>\n
Virginia Euwer Wolff’s Make Lemonade<\/a> has a very distinctive voice: it’s written with line breaks at phrases rather than normal paragraphs. I don’t usually read YA and I never read mainstream, but I really enjoyed this book and found it impossible to put down. The narrator is a 14-year-old trying to earn college money by babysitting for a 17-year-old single mom. It’s definitely a message book (education is the answer to everything), but it wasn’t preachy.
